The ETA should be printed and carried with your passport when you travel into Australia. The ETA allows you to enter Australia multiple times and and is valid for 1 year with a maximum stay of 3 months per entry. Please note that you should not apply for the ETA more than 6 months before your intended travel date to Australia.
